People have asked me "how do I go about commissioning a painting?". Somehow mystery surrounds the word "commissioning" when there is no mystery at all. If you are thinking about having a portrait done of any member or members of your family, just call me on the phone!  Consultation is FREE, there is no obligation whatsoever, and if you decide not to do something, do not be embarrassed and I won't be mad.  We all have budgets to work with, and sometimes our "want" has to be replaced by our "need". It happens to me all the time. No one needs a painting to survive in this world, but part of our existence needs nurturing and art does that. I compare the choice to having or not having that decadent Bavarian dessert once a year. Sometimes, you have to feed the soul as well as the body.

The other thing that motivates people to go ahead and have a special painting done for them, is that our beloved creatures - animals and children alike - do not stay the same forever.  I cannot tell you how many times I have had to paint a deceased dog.....I wish they had called me earlier on. Children are suddenly driving the car and off to college!

So, if you are thinking about art and want to test the waters, just give me a jingle or email me. Be sure and ask me about the Referral Rewards program!

If you are interested in commissioning a portrait or purchasing an existing painting, here are answers to some of your financial questions:

  • A museum quality painting of your horse and/or dogs starts at $4000. This would include portraits up to 36" across. Of course, each project is quoted in advance and the price is held. Larger paintings are priced individually.

  • A 10% deposit is required for commissions with the remainder due in full upon the client's complete satisfaction.

About my materials and methods.

  • I paint on Claessen's Portrait Belgium Linen and  occasionally smooth gesso board.

  • My oils are primarily Winsor Newton and my palette consists of only permanent pigments.

  • I make my own supports of kiln dried white pine.

If you have any questions please contact me or Kathleen!
